What’s the deal with the rising popularity of nose jobs? And why are these 5 states more popular for this type of plastic surgery than other states? Are nose jobs exclusively for models and actors, or is the average person getting rhinoplasty too? We have the answers you need right here, and some might surprise you!
We did an online data search to find out which states had the highest search volume (and growing) for the terms “rhinoplasty” and “nose jobs” over the last 5 years. While some states are the ones you would have guessed, there were a few surprises on the list—here’s what we found.

Liposuction, breast augmentation, tummy tucks, facelifts, and rhinoplasties are the top 5 procedures people are coming to New Jersey for. The question is: Why? Can’t you get these procedures anywhere? Yes, but NJ is attracting more people because these procedures are less expensive than in larger cities like New York City, and you can find some of the country’s leading surgeons here.
Take Dr. Breslow, founder of The Breslow Center. He is Board-Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is licensed to practice plastic & reconstructive surgery in both New Jersey and New York.
Why are certain states more popular for nose jobs than others? Specific regions of the U.S. see more patients, comparatively, for nose jobs for several reasons. Some of these reasons include:
Culture
States like California and New York have a strong culture around cosmetic surgery and beauty enhancement. As a result, people in these areas may be more inclined to seek cosmetic procedures, including nose jobs.
Skilled Surgeons
Some states have a higher concentration of experienced and skilled plastic surgeons specializing in rhinoplasty. Patients are often willing to travel to these areas to ensure they receive high-quality care from reputable Doctors.
Media Influence
Media plays a significant role in shaping beauty standards and influencing societal perceptions. Cities with a strong media presence may have a higher demand for cosmetic procedures, as individuals strive to meet or emulate the beauty ideals portrayed in the media.
Word of Mouth
People often rely on recommendations from friends, family, or colleagues when choosing a plastic surgeon. If a particular state or city has a strong network of satisfied patients who have undergone successful nose jobs, it can contribute to the popularity of that location for such procedures.
Cultural and Demographic Factors
Cultural attitudes towards cosmetic surgery can vary, and some regions may have a more accepting or encouraging stance toward these procedures. Additionally, demographic factors, such as a higher proportion of individuals in certain age groups or socioeconomic classes, may influence the demand for nose jobs in specific states. For example, people between the ages of 20 and 29 accounted for 31% of all nose job patients according to ASPS National Clearinghouse of Plastic Surgery Procedural Statistics.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), rhinoplasty is the third most popular plastic surgery nationwide, behind liposuction and breast augmentation. People get nose jobs for a variety of reasons.
