Soft Tissue Augmentation
Trauma, disease processes, and congenital deformities can result in obvious asymmetries and cosmetic imperfections. This is especially noticeable when it occurs on the face. Soft tissue fillers in use today, such as collagen and fat, are very reliable at concealing minor areas of deficiency. Larger defects, however, require more sophisticated microvascular reconstructive techniques called "free tissue transfers". Free tissue transfers entail moving large pieces of soft tissue, such as fat or muscle, from one part of the body to reconstruct another part of the body. Dr. Gary D. Breslow, who spent a year as the Fellow in Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at New York University Medical Center's prestigious Institute for Reconstructive Plastic Surgery, has extensive training and experience with free tissue transfer techniques for the purpose of soft tissue augmentation.
