Breast Lift
Pregnancy, nursing, excessive weight loss or gain, and the force of gravity can cause breasts to lose their shape, firmness, and natural elasticity. A breast lift, or mastopexy, performed by Dr. Breslow can help achieve a fitter, more youthful appearance by correcting a sagging bust line and restoring one's natural curves. Mastopexy can also reduce the size of the areola, which is the darker skin surrounding the nipple.
Breast Lift Techniques
During the procedure, Dr. Breslow removes excess skin from the breasts and repositions and tightens the remaining breast skin "envelope," thereby restoring the breasts to a youthful, firm, full shape. There are various breast lift techniques that can be used to achieve this goal, the most common technique involves a "donut-shaped" incision around the areola. Other techniques, which are designed for patients with more advanced sagging, employ more complicated incision patterns. The breast lift technique ultimately chosen is individualized for each patient; Dr. Breslow will recommend a technique after a thorough examination and discussion of the patient's surgical goals.
